Join for a great deal on 4TH OF JULY
The “bang” that sets off the fourth Women’s Murder Club thriller is a gunshot that leaves a teenage girl dead and Lt. Lindsay Boxer facing charges of police brutality. That Lindsay was shot first by the wealthy, high-as-a-kite “child,” and nearly died, is of little consequence to the San Francisco press, whose relentless pursuit prompts Lindsay’s vacationing sister to offer her the use of her home in Half Moon Bay. But a low profile soon proves hard for Lindsay to keep when she finds the town in panic mode over a string of unspeakable murders. Keeping her ear to the ground—and her friends in the Women’s Murder Club on alert—Lindsay manages to uncover details of the grisly deaths, and they bear a striking similarity to an unsolved case that’s haunted her for years. Could the same killer be back in business?
Between brief visits from her lover, Joe Molinari—a covert operative for the government—Lindsay gains the trust of a young mechanic who can’t hide his crush, although she has a run-in with a local pretty-boy who doesn’t appreciate her assessment of his charms. She also finds friendship with her sister’s neighbor, Carolee, who sheds only some light on the horror that soon veers in Lindsay’s direction when shots are fired at her house. With her trial about to begin in the city, and someone giving her a not-too-subtle warning here, Lindsay is fighting for her life on two fronts. And with the approaching 4th of July celebration, the real fireworks have yet to begin….
