Based on the author’s communication with her own teenage daughter, The Real Deal offers scriptural guidance written with our African-American teen girls in mind. Billie Montgomery Cook addresses a wide range of topics that hit close to home for teens—including body image, self-esteem, sexuality, friendship—from a biblical perspective. One of Cook’s goals is to build young women’s Christian faith, and she does so by including prayers at the end of each chapter that encourage healthy dialogue between parents and teens.
