THE TRUTH ABOUT MUHAMMAD by Robert Spencer

Is Islam out to destroy us, or are Muslims willing to live side-by-side with us? If they believe in true diversity, we'll be fine. If not…

Robert Spencer is the author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades) and he knows his subject well. In this startling new book he provides an objective portrait of the Prophet, explaining how Muhammad's biography has affected history—and what it means for hopes of reforming the faith and repudiating terrorism. Spencer relies solely on sources considered reliable by Muslims themselves and shows how views of Muhammad have been sanitized for Western audiences.

Here's how he responds to liberal claims that Islam's intolerance of other faiths is overstated:

“So...it has nothing to do with Koran verses, right? Such as the one that declares that the 'People of the Book' (i.e., Jews and Christians) 'incurred the curse of Allah and His wrath' so that 'some He transformed into apes and swine' (Sura 5:60). Muslim apologists...might charge me with taking this verse 'out of context.' Let them then explain why radical Muslims today so often refer to Jews as 'sons of pigs and monkeys.'”

I'm not sure Spencer has all the answers, but he sure knows all the right questions.—Brad Miner
